De Schakel is a group of volunteers who are committed to and with people in Rijkevorsel who, for whatever reason, are having a difficult time. As Schakel, we form a small part of a whole network of welfare links in Flanders.
Welzijnsschakels are 188 Welzijnsschakels groups with thousands of people who voluntarily commit themselves in the fight against poverty, social exclusion and discrimination and for a fair and sustainable society in which everyone counts.

Our Schakel has a shop with second-hand clothing. Here we offer ladies, men's and children's clothing depending on the supply. The prices are very low from 0.5 to 9 euros. The shop is open on Wednesday from 1pm to 5pm and on Saturday from 10am to 1pm. Clothing can be brought in on Thursday from 7pm to 8pm.
In the shop you will not only find clothing. There is also a meeting room where you can just drop in for a cup of coffee and a nice chat.
The Social grocery store is a shop where people who are financially struggling can buy at cheaper prices than in the regular shop. The food distribution is free. Both are after referral from the social service.
As a linkage operation, we organize a number of activities per year. The activities are set up at very democratic prices. If you want to stay informed about our activities, leave your details at the shop or with Greet or Diane.
With our Schakel we are a member of: 'Iedereen verdient vakantie' (Everyone deserves a vacation) and 'Vrijuit'. For more information about leisure or vacation opportunities for the poor, you can contact Greet.
As an organization, we are constantly looking for volunteers for various tasks within our Schakel. This can range from providing transportation, setting up a table to co-developing and guiding various activities. Are you looking for a fun and interesting leisure activity?
